Symantec Netbackup 7.1 client on Gentoo Linux

For installing Netbackup 7.1 client on Gentoo some little hacks must be done because Gentoo is not supported officially.

First of all: emerge lib-compat (unmask it if necessary)

Extract the Netbackup-Client-tar-file. We will use the Debian-installation-files... Edit ./NBClients/anb/Clients/usr/openv/netbackup/client/Linux/Debian2.6/client_config and replace every occurrence of "ret_val=1" with "ret_val=0".

Go to the folder ./NBClients/anb/Clients/usr/openv/netbackup/client/Linux/Debian2.6/ and edit installpbx and replace the strings "doExit 1" under 'case "$PLATFORM"' with "doExit 0".

Next create a directory using "mkdir PBX_inst" and change to it using "cd PBX_inst". Now extract the PBX-file with tar xvfz ../PBX.tar.gz.

Run the following commands:

./preinstall
./postinstall
mkdir -p /opt/VRTSpbx/bin/
cp -R VRTSpbx/ /opt/
cp ./etc/vx/VxICS/VxPBX.cfg /etc/vx/VxICS/VxPBX.cfg

mkdir -p /etc/rc.d/init.d/
/opt/VRTSpbx/bin/pbx_exchange &

Now run "sh install" from the main directory of the Netbackup-client-files. Choose Debian2.6 as system. Anwser questions as usual.

After the installation run the following commands:

cp /etc/rc.d/init.d/netbackup /etc/init.d/netbackup
rc-update add vxpbx_exchanged default
rc-update add netbackup default

Now delete the directory /etc/rc.d using "rm -rf /etc/rc.d".

Please note: this is working for my 64bit machine and I cannot guarantee that this will work for every Gentoo linux...
